2024 on Youtube

Last year I took the plunge and went back to posting on Youtube consistently. I posted weekly, with the exception of one or two weeks. This time around, instead of doing vlogs/lifestyle (which is what I did while I was doing Youtube a couple of years ago), I decided I wanted to create book content. I created a Bookstagram profile about 2 years ago, and have loved chatting about books, and realized that it was something I could really do consistently, while also keeping my personal life much more private.

I didn't really have that craving to share as much with viewers on Youtube, so the idea that I can almost elusively talk about books was really enticing.

So I started back in August. I had a little over 300 subscribers, and little to no watch time/views. I posted 3 videos, and my highest watched video was, my Fable App comparison video. This video currently has 3.3k views! It's my most viewed video since restarting my Youtube channel, which was pretty cool. It didn't blow up immediately, but randomly started blowing up in October.

Then in September, I continued to make some more book content, I was at around 450 subscribers, and released 4 videos. My top video of this month was My Fall Reading Guide, and it currently has 1.1k views.

I feel like I was starting to find my new style for how to edit my thumbnails. They really got to the point, didn't come across as clickbait, and showed you immediately what you were clicking on. I played a little bit with keywords/SEO.

Then we got to October, where I ended up with about 600 subscribers! I only posted 3 times in October. it was the first month where I skipped my weekly videos. It was my first attempt at creating a reading vlog. Out of all the videos I released, my most popular was my October TBR, but it only ended up getting 143 views (currently).

Then we moved onto November, I had about 700 subscribers, and at this point, my goal was to try to hit 1k by the end of December. My subscriber count was growing pretty quickly (in my opinion), and I was engaging with other small book creators! I didn't end up posting much in November. I only uploaded 2 videos, which wasn't that great.

I had decided that I was going to do Bookmas, and was already starting to feel very overwhelmed. My best video out of the two was my November TBR, which currently has 111 views.

Then we finally reach December. At the beginning of December, I had about 970 subscribers. I ended up releasing 12 videos. One for each day of Bookmas. It was a lot of work, and while I didn't necessarily improve in terms of editing, I got a lot more comfortable in front of the camera. I also feel like I got faster at cutting my footage, which was nice to see! Throughout the month of December, my top 2 videos ended up being my November Wrapup, followed by the video showing off my Reading Journal for 2025. The both got around 90 views. While I didn't get a lot of views on my videos in the month of December, I saw an increase in watch time, and gained lots of subscribers! I ended up the year of 2024 with 1.14K subscribers.

I didn't really want to make a video talking about my Youtube Growth, but I did want to have some sort of record showing how I did in the year of 2024.

Youtube Goals for 2025

  • Hit 3k subscribers
  • 4,000 watch hours
  • more engaged audience (more comments per video)
  • Create more reading vlogs
  • Come up with some fun twists on book videos

Now, if you've made it to the end and enjoy book video content, what kind of videos would you like to see from me in 2025?
