6 Years of Blogging.

I can’t believe I’ve been blogging for 6 years at this point. It feels like much longer, and not as long at the same time. I’ve spent the past week going through old blog posts, and figuring out how I want to write this 6 year anniversary blog post!

After thinking about it, I realize I love going down memory lane and talking about the growth that this blog and I have had. When I first started this blog I was in my early 20’s, and I didn’t know the first thing about blogging. I had no idea what I was doing, and yet I decided to jump, headfirst, into Blogmas.

I say this every year, but those blog posts were terrible. They were short, edited badly, and there was zero formatting. I had made the jump from writing short lil blurbs on Tumblr, to wanting to have a space for myself.

If you’ve been here since the beginning, you would know that at first, my blog posts were primarily book, travel, and beauty posts. Somewhere a long the way I added some lifestyle and personal thought pieces.

Life has gotten ahead of me, and I don’t blog nearly as much as I used to. Even though that’s the case, I still find this place to be a bit of a safe space. I have made so many blog friends that I have in depth conversations with. Not only that, but I genuinely enjoy capturing my life as I’m living it.

Over the years I’ve written hundreds of posts (503 to be exact), and thousands of words (about 336,000 words) so it’s always fun to chat a bit about my favorites and your favorites! I’m not going to do a full yearly recap, like I did last year. I’m going to talk about my top 5 favorite posts from this year, and of all time. I will also share what you guys seemed to like this year, and compare it with all time. Let’s jump into it.

My Favorite Posts of 2022

I didn't write very much this year. A lot of them were Fridaze posts. I have stayed in this slump for most of 2022, and it's been difficult to dig deep, and write these well thought out personal posts. I'm hoping that changes a bit in 2023, but these were some of my favorite posts of the year!

Your Favorite Posts of 2022

Now I’m going to talk about which posts did well this year, and the views it got throughout the year. It seems like the posts that tended to do the best were evergreen content. Reviews on products people want to know about. When writing these posts, I would have never guessed they would end up being so popular!

My All Time Favorite Posts

I looked at some of the posts from this year, and I looked at last year's post to see what my all time favorite posts were, year by year. In the end, I think the posts I mentioned below are my favorites. I really have enjoyed writing Dear You posts. They are very personal to me, but are something I take a lot of pride in writing. I think I'm going to do some more in 2023.

Your All Time Favorite Posts

Now these are the posts that have done the best on my site! I'm honestly not that surprised, because some of these just have done really well with Google. I am surprised that Juvia's place post is my second most read post! It's not particularly well written. I still stand by them having some amazing brushes, but it's funny seeing what's done well on my site.

Past Anniversary Posts:

It's kind of cool to see how far I've come over the years. I'm kinda sad I didn't make an anniversary post for year 4! While I had a slow and quiet year on the blog this year, I'm going to make it a point to blog more throughout 2023. For those of you who have stuck around or continue to chat with me through my blog, I thank you! Each comment/view means so much to me, so thank you.

We'll chat in the next one xx

I love that I made blogging less of a potential way to make money, and doing it more because I genuinely enjoy it. My life has gotten really busy, and taking that pressure off of me has been really nice. Thank you so much for the kind words πŸ™‚ x

Congratulations on six years, that's amazing! I can't believe how many posts you've wrote and how many words, that's a little bit insane! I've never thought about how many words I've wrote before, but I think I need to now. I've always loved reading your blog and can't wait to see whats to come xx

Congratulations for blogging for six years! I love seeing bloggers continue blogging; it’s super sad for me to see people quit after 1-2 years. So excited to see what blogging brings for everyone next year! I know it’ll be bigger and better πŸ™‚

Thank you so much! I feel super proud about it. A lot of the people who started blogging around the same time I did are no longer blogging, and it makes me kinda sad. The lil community of friends aren't doing it anymore. I also understand that interests change, and sometimes life gets in the way. Thank you so much for the kind words πŸ™‚ xx

Happy blog birthday, Melina! What an achievement!

I think it's natural to have peaks and troughs with any hobby. I've really struggled a lot with the concept of my online presence this year. But, like you, I'm looking forward to seeing what blogging brings in 2023. Here's to many more years of Melina Elisa! x

Thank you! It's kind of hard to believe that I've had this for most of my 20s. I have a feeling that what's in store for our blogs is exciting next year πŸ™‚
