Fridaze 072

Happy Friday and happy Fridaze! I didn't post my what I read this post on Tuesday, but it was because it was my birthday! I was deciding whether to finish my reading post or post my Fridaze. I decided to try to do both today, but start with my Fridaze! Let's chat what I've been up to this past week.

Washington, DC

For my birthday this year, I decided to spend the weekend in Washington, DC. It's a city I've been to many times, and have always enjoyed. The food is good, the night life is good, and there are lots of cool shops and museums! On top of that, my uncle and his husband live there as well. So Me, J, my sister, her boyfriend, and my brother all took the drive to DC. The drive there was terrible. There was an accident, which caused so much traffic.

Once we got to our Airbnb, we had to rush to get ready since we had a dinner reservation at St. James DC. If you're ever in DC, I highly recommend checking out this place, because everything was amazing. The service was really good, the cocktails were delicious, and everything we ordered tasted really good. I wish I took pictures of the food, so I could share it with you! From there we checked out a few bars until my uncles met up with us. We chatted until 1am, and headed back to the Airbnb.

The next morning we had brunch at Prost, which I also had a good experience at! They had bottomless drinks and I enjoyed the chicken and waffles. I liked that the place wasn't too crowded, so we were just able to enjoy our meal & drinks without being rushed out. Afterwards, we checked out the National Museum of the American Indian. I had never been there before, and one of my uncles recommended we check it out. I'll be honest, it wasn't my favorite, and it didn't stand up to some of the other museums I've been to in the past that I liked a lot better.

Afterwards we got ready for dinner and met up at my uncle's apartment. We had some drinks on their rooftop bar, and walked to Georgia Brown's. I'll skip over what I had, but I felt like the food was overpriced and there are better places to go to.

I had a great weekend in DC, and kind of wish I got to spend more time there! I already know I'll be back soon.

Turning 30

Then on Tuesday I turned 30! I considered making a full post talking about my feelings about hitting a new decade. I decided not to, because I couldn't find the words to express how I felt. Nonetheless, I made an Instagram post sharing a little bit about how I felt turning 30.

I took the day off for my birthday, and so did J. He then took me to my favorite bagel shop! Afterwards we went to the dog beach with Luca. It was a little stressful, since Luca wanted to play with the dogs and play in the water. But we eventually got him to relax so we can sunbathe and read. After that we went to an Irish pub, which was exciting because we've never taken Luca out to eat with us. He was pretty good!

I honestly couldn't have asked for a better birthday. After a busy weekend, it was nice to have a slower paced birthday.

That was my week in a nutshell, how was your week? The weather is so beautiful over here, I think I'm going to the pool today. As always, thanks so much for reading! xx

Thank you so much! I did end up having a great time. I feel so lucky to have so many loved ones that make my birthday so special. I’m so glad you said that, because I was a little nervous about turning 30. But everyone tends to say that your 30s are better than your 20s, so I have that to look forward to! Happy early birthday xxx
