The Truth about Social Media
Social media can devour you, if you let it. Regardless of whether you're an internet influencer or not, social media can take over your life. Some people feel the pressure to create a fake life on social media in order to look like they have a more lavish life than they actually do. You shouldn't feel the need to show off to people that really don't matter. Those that care about you know the real you, and don't care about your internet persona.
Then some people worry all about the numbers. How much engagement do they get? How many followers and subscribers do they have? How many likes, retweets, and hearts do they have? Some people go as far as buying fake followers. I don't really know how it works, but you shouldn't feel like you have to do that. What's the point of inactive followers? To seem like you have more? Does it make you feel good? When I'm looking at my follower count on all my social media pages, I like knowing that I earned these followers. They like what I have to say or the pictures and content that I post.
While numbers do matter a bit if you're an online influencer, you shouldn't let it take over your life. Post things you genuinely like. There are always going to be people who don't like your content. On the other hand, there are going to be tons more that do.
Stay true to yourself always.
I hope this speaks to some of you. Have a beautiful day/night. Sending you all love and positive vibes.

YES! Well said! Social media really can be toxic if you let it. I'm going to share this post on my twitter.
Thank you so muchh! 🙂 xxx
i enjoyed this post, I guess i'm a bit of both, yeah i keep an eye on the numbers but i'm also grateful for every follower, for me its a new person to learn about and in amongst everyone you meet some amazing people. Like yourself.
Thank you so much for reading! I totally understand where you are coming from, because I myself, have enjoyed meeting so many new people. Most who have become my best friends! xxx
Totally agree with all that you've said. I think it's really easy to get caught up in the numbers, especially when you're new and excited or struggling to bring up your numbers even if you've been around for a while. The temptation and stresses are there. They will always be there. However, that doesn't mean that it's the only way. There are better, more respectable ways to grow your following. For one, being genuine and excited about your content. If you're excited about it, other people will get excited about it.

I completely agree! I think once you become more and more proud of your work, the rest will follow. Being genuine and excited about what you write about is always a great way to grow your following. Thanks for reading and commenting Ashlynn xxx
Hi Melina,
I'm with you on this & so glad it came out about this whole buying of followers.... such a fine line to be authentic online meaning being the real you. I once had someone telling me "well but that's not you" and I don't know but I was really offended. I can be who I want to be or? If the content from within me wants to come out, I should facilitate that, or? But yes, we need to be grounded in the offline. Solely the online can not be sufficient.
Thanks for this post and promting me to rethink this. 🙂
Hope you have a great weekend so far.

Thank you for telling me about your experiences! I can't believe someone told you that! That's so rude. They don't know who you are, and have no right to tell you whether you are acting like yourself or not! Keep doing you boo, I know you are being true to yourself and that's all that matters xxx
I agree with everything you say here. It's so easy to get obsessed with the numbers and compare yourself to other accounts with more followers than you. I had to take the WordPress stat bar off my phone, it was getting me down for a while but I realized it didn't really matter that much. Great post!!
Thank you so much! I'm glad i'm not the only one who feels this way! Thanks for reading and your kind words cleia xxx
