Looking Past your Imperfections.
There are a whole lot of things I don't like about myself, both physically and mentally. There are things that I can change, like the fat in places I don't want there to be fat. There are also things that I can't change unless go under the knife, like my nose.
I have a bump on my nose, and to be honest, I didn't feel self-conscious about it til I was in High School. One of my friends at the time pointed out to me and since that day I've felt insecure about my nose.
It's so difficult not to feel bad when in the magazines, tabloids and on social media there are pictures of the perfect girl. She has either a pinched nose or a straight perfect one. You never see models have bumps on their nose. You never see anyone who's Instagram famous or on YouTube with these types of imperfection.
After I graduated high school, I went through the constant struggle of figuring out whether I wanted to get cosmetic surgery or not. I'm 23 now, and still haven't decided what to do with my nose. For the most part, I try to embrace it as something I was born with, and maybe helping other people to have the confidence to embrace their natural selves. I know some people actually have serious issues with their nose, and I should be blessed with the nose I was given. I can breathe perfectly fine, which is super important.
I don't know what I'm going to do in the future, but I do know that whatever I do won't be because of the internet anymore. I am actually pretty happy with the way I look now, and I know that I am not going to feel that way every single day, but for now I'm making the changes I know I can change such as changing my lifestyle and eating habits, so I can get the body I truly want.
I am also making changes mentally, so I can be an even happier and grateful individual. At the end of the day, these are the things that mark true happiness.
I don't know if this spoke to any of you guys, but if it did, please leave me a comment down below!
Oh I love this post so much, Melina, thank you for writing it. It's so easy to get influenced by others, social media, everyone else's idea of perfection. Thing is, there is no such thing as perfection, we all are different and unique, have insecurities and other things we love about ourselves for sure. I'm so happy to hear you're making positive changes in your life to feel better about yourself and who you are. You're pretty amazing, you should own it 🙂
(Also, love these pictures! 🙂 )
Sending you love xxx
Thank you so much for the kind words Marie. It's something I've been dealing with for a long time, and felt loads of people can relate! If I can make one person in the world feel less alone in their feelings, then I did my job 🙂 xx
I hate the way the media portrays the 'perfect' girl, as in reality nobody looks like that! In all honesty I've not noticed a bump on your nose, but I know the feeling of when someone points something out and it seems to stick with you for a very long time. This is such a lovely and well written post and what is an important topic nowadays xx

Thank you so much Hannah! Your kinds words mean a lot xxx
I know all too well about supercritical about your imperfection. I'm camera shy and I'm always criticizing my photos. I still learning to be comfortable in my own skin at 33.
I guess you never completely grow out of your insecurities, you just have to be strong enough to not let the imperfections bother you enough to stop you from doing things you love xxx
Lovely read! As you said - nobody's perfect, and sometimes you really just need to embrace your flaws as a part of you! Ironically, a lot of time the little imperfections we see that are so glaring to us are occasionally unnoticeable to other - for e.g. I definitely cannot pick out a bump in your nose 🙂

Yeah, I think it was super important to see that what everyone sees isn't the reality. Everyone is insecure about something and I am no exception. Thank you so much for reading Sophia xxx
Thanks for sharing your personal stories any way. Any time, thanks for sharing again xxx
I honestly can not noticed the bump on your nose, but I understand that once you notice something, it has to forget. For me, I have a lot of acne scars (luckily they rarely show through photos and makeup), I also have an overbite, uneven hips from m,y surgery and I HATE my jaw! I blame it on my overbite haha. It is so weak and in photographs I hate showing my side profile because you can really see it.
But despite this, I focus on the good. I like my smile, I have super long lashes and I like my lips. I think that it is the way to move past your imperfections. I always think of Jennifer Grey from Dirty Dancing who had a nose job and ended up struggling to find work after. Our imperfections can add to our beauty and unique character. Love this post and you look beautiful in your photos! xxx
Thank you so much Lauzie! Like you said, I looking at the things I like about myself in order to look past my imperfections.
I never looked at it from the Dirty Dancing perspective. So many people were upset once she changed her nose, because it's one of the things that made her, her!
Thank you so much for the constant kinds words. You have kind of become a friend of mine and it means a lot to me for you to be here for me. Thanks for reading xxx
I consider you a friend as well and no problem!? xxx
I've got the same situation with my noise too, It sticks out like a sore thumb but If you can learn to accept it then you're there because the only persons opinion about your body that matters is your own. Plus you are super beautiful Melina and that outfit is to DIE FOR AHH! Great post, love Em xxxx
You're completely right. For the past year or so I have become so confident and self-loving. I'm learning to accept my nose for the way it is. Thank you so much for the compliments! xxx
It's definitely hard not to feel bad with the media in general creating this 'perfect' image of what we all should look like and aspire to be like. You should embrace your imperfections because it makes you you! This is a lovely, will written post though. Thanks for sharing x
