The magic of eight letters, three words.

There's something magical about the words, "I miss you". Almost even more so than, "I love you". I could be in the worst mood, and yet, if I receive a text or phone call from someone telling me those words, or something along those lines, my day is instantly brightened.

In a world where we are constantly busy in our day to day lives, the idea of someone thinking of you, and taking the time to leave you some type of message is special. Especially a message that includes a phrase like that one.

It's crazy how the correct combination of 8 letters can mean so much. Nothing puts a smile on my face quicker, well maybe that other eight letters, three word phrase might (think Gossip Girl, if you click the link in this sentence, you'll see what I'm talking about).

I've toyed with the idea of why that phrase is pure magic, and I have a theory. There are some phrases that are special when used correctly, but are overused in day to day conversation, and can feel less special when heard. Then there are some phrases like, "I miss you", that aren't commonly used, that adds to how special you feel to be on the receiving end of those words.

As a person who struggles with loneliness, a phase like, "I miss you", can make me feel a lot less lonely at that moment (Alexa play "One Less Lonely Girl" by Justin Bieber). Like a lifeline. Not only does it make me feel important to that person, but it makes me feel like I matter.

It means someone misses my company, my conversation, my opinion, my laughter. They miss me. At least, that's what it means to me.

There are millions of words in the English language someone can use to describe exactly how they feel, but the phrase, "I miss you", will always sound perfectly beautiful to me.

It's nice to be reminded of how much hearing those words can mean.
The words 'I miss you' are very meaningful and beautiful.
It would be nice if they were spoken as often as they are felt.
Even when not spoken though, I know you are loved.
    xx
