Fridaze 028
Can you believe I've written almost 6 months worth of Fridaze? It's kinda crazy when I think of all the things I've documented about my life. That's not counting my Dear Diary posts or my monthly updates I used to do. I all the years I've been blogging for, I've always enjoyed documenting the highs and lows of my life.
It's just really cool to look back on. Not only seeing what was important in my life, and seeing what I overcame, but also seeing how my writing style has changed throughout the years. I think I've really found my voice in recent years. While it's not 100% perfect, it is very me.
Enough sentimental chit chat, it's been a busy month, so let's hop to it, grab a cup of coffee/tea and let's chat.
Parents go to Puerto Rico
First things first, my parents spontaneously took a trip to Puerto Rico. While they had a great time, it always means a little more stress for me. More work hours, more responsibility, etc. I would say work went pretty smoothly, but my anxiety was pretty high leading up to them leaving, and continued the whole week they were gone. I would go as far to say that I had left over high anxiety for a week or so after they got back.
I'm so glad they had a good time, because they truly deserve taking all the time they want off!
J goes away on Bachelor Party Trip
J went away to Boston for a bachelor party. While J travels a lot for his job, I don't know why this trip was a little difficult to get through. Maybe because my parents were away and I was already anxious.
I don't know, all I know was that I was feeling a bit anxious and even a little insecure. I know this is honestly because some negative past experiences I've had in other relationships, and very little to do with J.
It's just been annoying to have to face these insecurities, and negative emotions past relationships have left me with. I know with time I will get over this, it's an unfortunate side effect of having predominantly terrible past dating experiences.
The Band Camino
Since my parent's trip to Puerto Rico was completely spontaneous, I had to work double shifts, and I had a pretty full schedule. During the week, I had some tickets to go to NYC to see The Band Camino with my sister. The concert was great, I had such a great time, but I was beat! I left the concert a little early, grabbed a delicious NYC slice, and headed home.
Exhausting day, but totally worth it. I would 100% see them again.
Last NJ Devil's Game of the Season
That same week, I also caught up with my friend, Jamie, and watched the last Devil's game of the season. Even though the Devil's is one of the worst teams in the League, I love going to games! It has such fun energy, and the tickets are super cheap. It makes it a fun thing to do whenever you don't have anything planned.
As always, it's always a fun time with Jamie! Not only that, but she surprised me by asking me to be a bridesmaid! I was totally not expecting it, but it made me so happy that she asked.
Paint & Sip with Amanda
The same week that all of the above happened, I also had a paint & sip with Amanda. As always we had a great time. We tried out this Thai place, where the food was delicious, I had a really good chicken curry. Afterwards, we painted this night time cherry blossom painting. I have to say, while Amanda's painting came out better, I really like how mine came out! I never really want to hang them up, but this time around, I'm actually going to hang mine up on the wall.
Dr. Strange in the Multiverse [no spoilers]
I was so excited to see this movie. I felt like the first Dr. Strange was completely underrated, and so when this one was being advertised I had high hopes. Man, I felt completely underwhelmed. I didn't like the way it was directed, there were some really weird zoom ins and transitions (and this is coming from someone who usually doesn't notice stuff like that). I felt like the storytelling was subpar. I don't know if it's because they tried to put too much information in a single movie, but something was off. While they had an excellent cast of talented actors, I was just so disappointed. Even the fight scenes, were terrible.
I literally left the movie theater feeling so much disappointment. I thought I would be excited for the next installation, but all I felt was...kind of a loss.
Especially after how amazing the last Spiderman was, I thought this one should have been much much better.
Comedy Show in NYC with J
The weekend after my parents & J came back, I planned a do nothing week. I was so exhausted, both mentally and physically, that all I wanted was a weekend to completely recharge.
It didn't end up working that way, because J had some comedy show tickets he bought in February, and he completely forgot about until about 2 days before the show. Even though it's not at all what we planned that weekend, the show was super funny, and we had a great time in the city.
It was our first time in NYC, so that was a fun experience. We went to Ippudo (the ramen spot), the Nintendo store, and a random bar before the show!
Spa day with Sofia
My sister found a Tiktok on how to make our own body butters, so we bought the supplies and made it ourselves! It was super easy to make, and makes our skin super smooth. We also know how to tweak it next time we make more.
After making the body butters, we painted our nails, and just chatted and caught up. It was a really nice day. Sometimes I miss the convenience of us living in the same house, so we can do lil' things like this together whenever.
Sofia gets a Tattoo in Upstate NY
My sister had a tattoo appointment in Upstate NY, which she booked almost a year prior. She didn't want to take the drive by herself, so I left work a little early, and we took the drive together.
Her tattoo artist was super nice! Not only that, but the two tattoos she ended up getting turned out beautifully.
We ended up getting some delicious custom donuts. I've become more of a sweets person recently, but I have always loved a good donut. Since I'm planning on going back upstate in a few weeks, expect me to go out of my way to get some more of these donuts!
Housewarming/Guinea Pig Birthday
The same day I went with my sister to get her tattoo done, J's friend had a housewarming/Guinea Pig party! Her guinea pig, Hannibal, turned 8! I looked it up, and it's honestly unheard of to have a guinea pig last that long.
So I've always been extra anxious to hang out with J's friends. I worry too much about whether they're going to like me or not. I guess I didn't have that much to worry about after all, because I honestly had a great time.
Even though I felt guarded and on edge all night, my anxiety was nowhere near as bad as it was the last time I hung out with all of them. I think it helps that J told me they all liked me!
First Hike of the Season
The last exciting thing about the past month, is that we're starting to get some great weather! Me & J were able to go on a hike, which was completely spontaneous, but I really enjoyed it. I can't wait to spend more time outside as the weather continues to get nicer.
