Fridaze 029
These past few weeks have flown by, and I honestly don't know where the time went! I feel like I do so much, but at the same time don't have enough time to do everything. I feel like I wrote a Fridaze post yesterday, and here we are two weeks later.
I'm honestly not in the best place right now. I always struggle mentally as I get close to my birthday. I know birthdays are supposed to be a day of celebration, but I always find it a day to check in on my goals, and see how much I've accomplished. Most years, I feel like I'm falling short of the expectations I set for myself.
While I have gained so much in the past year, and have hit some major milestones, I also feel like I'm so far behind in other parts of my life. I'm trying not to be too hard on myself, and have talked about it a lot in therapy. While I'm not feeling 100%, I'm going to make sure it doesn't ruin my birthday.
On a lighter note, let's chat about what I've been up to for the past two weeks!
Christina's Birthday in Hoboken
We were expecting to hot one of the hottest days of the season so far, about 90 degrees (32°C), and for my friend's birthday she wanted to go to Pier 13. Once we got there, the place was packed, which was completely expected considering how nice it was outside. Instead, we decided to go to this rooftop bar about 2 blocks away.
We got really lucky, and were able to be seated right away. We had some drinks, and brick oven pizza. It was really nice to see her and celebrate her birthday with her.
Game Night at Sofia's
After spending the day with Christina, me and J went to my sister's! Her boyfriend was having a bbq/game night, and he invited the two of us. Since they knew I had prior plans with Christina earlier in the day, we ended up going after I was done.
We ended up playing a whole bunch of Jackbox games that were on sale. We ordered some pizza and some drinks, and had so much fun!
First Official Beach Day of the Year
The following day, Me and J decided to take a spontaneous trip to the beach! The weather was beautiful, we got very sunburnt on our backs, but it was honestly the perfect day. There's nothing that could have made this day better. Well, actually if the water wasn't ice cold, that would have made the day better.
Dan's Wedding
After a week of working and recharging my mental battery a bit, This past Friday was J's friend's, Dan, wedding. I left work early to get ready. I was going to carpool with my friend Amanda, since J was part of the wedding party, and he's been there since much earlier.
I had finished getting ready, and it started to downpour. I was already anxious because of the event, but the moment I saw the rain I started to panic. I didn't know what I could formally wear in the rain in this heat! All I had was my casual raincoat, and some heavy jackets. In the end, I decided to go with my casual raincoat.
Once I got that settled with, Amanda was running late because of all the rain. Then her dress broke. It was one thing after the other, and I started to panic. My anxiety was so high, and I didn't know how to make better.
When Amanda finally made it to my house, she had told me that we weren't actually running late, that there was a cocktail hour. And immediately I felt so much better. While my anxiety lingered for the next 2-3 hours, it could have been much worse.
Overall, I loved the way I looked, J looked extremely handsome, I was extremely happy to have one of my best friends at the same wedding as me, and I had an amazing time!
Family Memorial Day BBQ
After taking a break on Saturday, on Sunday me & J spent the day at my house for a family BBQ! The dogs were there, the food was delicious, and it was perfectly chill vibes after a busy Friday.
Picnic at the State Park
Then we started our Memorial Day Monday by going to the state park! They actually just announced that all state parks in New Jersey are going to be free for the remainder of the year. It's honestly great news, because J lives about 5-10 minutes away from one.
This was the same park we went on a hike at a few weeks back. Since we had plans later in the day, we decided to have a picnic! We honestly just wanted to spend some time outside, so this worked perfectly.
We made some sandwiches (honestly, J made the sandwiches), brought some drinks and snacks, and packed them up! Then we used my beach blanket and just enjoyed the nice day.
J's Family BBQ
After our picnic, we went to J's sister's house. I wasn't anxious about it...okay maybe I was a little anxious, but it was a pretty normal about. While I don't really feel comfortable with his family yet (with the exception of his mom), I didn't had a bad time! I enjoy seeing J bond and chat with his family, and I hope that eventually I'll get to know them more, and get the chance to bond and chat with them myself.
Playing Pokemon Colosseum
I ended my memorial day weekend by making a new file of the Gamecube Pokemon Colloseum. Growing up, I remember being obsessed with this game. After having 2 hours of gameplay already, it's just as good as I remembered it to be. I'm really looking forward to continuing to play! I honestly wished they'd add a digital version of the game for the Switch.
