Fridaze 039
It's the first Fridaze of 2023, and it feels good to chat. I've had a busy few weeks, but here we are. January is almost done! While you've heard from me (I've been doing some favorites posts [1,2]), we haven't had a proper chat in a while. Let's hop to it then!
Litmas - the 2nd Year
I'm leaving off where Fridaze 38 ended. That weekend was Litmas. It's an event where J and his friends rent a party bus, and it takes us to a set of bars. It's a lot more fun than it sounds. Last year my friend, Amanda, and her boyfriend, David, invited me! It's actually super funny, but this event is how I met J.
I think that's what made this one a little more special. We were in the same places, for the same event where we met.
Originally Amanda & David weren't supposed to come, but they ended taking an Uber and showing up. It definitely made the event more fun for me.
Flat Tire
That following Wednesday, I got a flat tire. I was about 3-4 blocks from my house, on my way to work, when my car alerts me that one of my tires was extremely low on air. I check the tire, and saw that I had a flat tire. I called the Tesla roadside assistance, and they called a tow for me (it would have taken too long to get a technician to change the tire for me right there, and I had to get to work!).
Luckily a tow truck came within 30 minutes. They took me to the Tesla center. Then they got me some Uber credits to allow me to go to work and come back later.
I ended up not only having a flat tire, but I had a tire that was irreparable. It ended up costing more money than I expected to spend that week, but what was I going to do?
Christmas & Christmas Eve
Now I love Christmas & Christmas Eve, but this one was a little extra special. This was the first holiday season spending it with J. I spent half of Christmas Eve with my family at my house, the I left early to go and spend the other half with J's family. It was a little weird leaving my family to go to his house. I'm get a long really well with my family, so I love chatting the night away with them during the holidays.
That night Luca sprained his leg while playing with J's sister's dog. It was super stressful for him to get injured so late at night on a holiday. My anxiety went through the roof, and I didn't really know what to do. I felt so helpless.
Luckily J was able to stay much calmer during this stressful situation.
On Christmas day, we started off at J's family's house, and spent the rest of the day with my family.
I think we did the best we could in terms of trying to split fairly between both households. As someone who's really close to my family, and genuinely enjoys spending time with them, I feel like it's always going to be tough for me.
Beetlejuice
For Christmas, J surprised me with tickets for us to see Beetlejuice! I've been trying to schedule a day for us to go, especially since Beetlejuice was leaving Broadway. It was such a sweet and thoughtful gift.
The show itself was so much fun. If they have this show playing in your area, I highly recommend it! Since we were in NYC, we took advantage, saw the tree, and went to dinner after the show.
I love NYC and being there with J is even better.
J's Work Party
J had a work party, and I was a little anxious about going. We were meeting there, since it was really close to my house, and he was going to take an Uber with his coworker.
I honestly had nothing to worry about, I had a great time. I really like one of his friends/coworkers, and we sat at the same table as him. Afterwards, we ended up going to a bar, where it was super crowded. We didn't end up staying that long, but overall another good night!
NYE
I don't normally do too much for New Year's anymore. I used to go all out with my older brother, but since then, I haven't done much. One year, I threw a lil' get together at my house, which I might do in the future again.
This year, J's friend, Chris, invited us to his house. Again, I wasn't sure if I was going to have a good time. Not only did I not know who was going, but at the end of the day, they weren't my friends.
I should realize by now, that my anxiety always envisions the worst case scenario, and more often than not everything's going to be okay. I ended up having a great time!
While I was a little uncomfortable initially, as the night wore on, that bundle of anxious nerves wore off. Lots of laughs, two random Super Smash Bros. tournament, and lots of drinks. Kudos to our bartender of the night, Rob!
Kura Sushi
Me and J have gone to Kura before, but this time was a much better experience. For those of you who don't know, Kura is revolving sushi spot. We went a few months ago, a while we liked the gimmick of it, the sushi was only good depending on what you got. This time around, we had a better idea of what we liked from there, and ended up having a better time!
Beaches at Turks & Caicos
I actually just came back from Vacation! Last week, I flew to Turks & Caicos to go to the all-inclusive resort, Beaches. The trip was pure perfection. I definitely struggle with the winter blues, and the cure to that is relaxation and sunlight. This trip had a lot of both. I went with one of my best friends, Christina. The food was delicious, the property was beautiful (and super well maintained), the weather was gorgeous, and the customer service of everyone who worked there was excellent. Everyone at the property went above and beyond to make sure you were having a good time.
I could not recommend this place enough, and know that I will look into their resorts at other locations in the future!
1 Year Anniversary
This week it was our official Anniversary. I feel like this year has flown by. J is so special to me, and I feel so grateful to not only know him, but be dating him. We get along so well, and really go out of our ways to be a good partner to one another. He makes me so happy, and I hope I make even a little bit as happy as he makes me.
We're going to celebrate this weekend, so I can't wait to tell you all about it!

How were the holidays for you? What else have you been up to lately? Let me know. As always, sending you love, strength, and positive vibes xx
Ahh happy happy one year anniversary to you two, I'm so, so happy you found someone that makes you so happy <3 and I'm so happy that all of these little parties and events you were anxious to go to, ended up being great times for you, too. I always imagine the worst as well, but it's the best when you're happily surprised! 🙂
I hope you're doing great, sending you all the love always xxx
Thank you so so much! I think the trip made me feel a bit better, so I'm trying to continue on with my self-care, but I honestly can't wait for sunnier days. xx
Wow, it sounds like you've had such an eventful start to the year! Happy anniversary to you and J! x
OMG, it was! I'm so happy to be able to slow down a bit, and just try to enjoy the little things.
You've had a very eventful past couple of weeks, the holiday season is always a busy time, isn't it?
There is a revolving sushi restaurant close to where I live and I love going there. I just like the fact that we can order as much as we want without having to contact a server constantly! haha ♥
