How much is my face worth?
I had this title stuck in my drafts for years now, and I thought this would be a fun post to share with you all! I've toned down my makeup a lot since covid. Definitely a fan of the natural look. A "your face but better" look. Let's get into it!
Primer - $29.99
Most days, I use a moisturizer as my makeup primer. I really like the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Extra Dry Cream Gel. It doesn't really disturb the makeup or pill, which is something I sometimes have trouble with when I apply heavy moisturizers under makeup. At Ulta, this product goes for $29.99, but I usually get the two for one deal at Costco for the same price!
If I'm not using this, I'm either using the Milk Hydro Grip Primer or the Weleda Skin Food Ultra Rich.
Concealer - $32
This is the second tube of the Ilia True Skin Serum concealer I've almost finished. I love this concealer. It was recommended to my by Jamie Paige (a Canadian beauty Influencer), and she could not be more right. It's light-weight, but medium coverage. It doesn't sink into fine lines (which I'm starting to get around my eyes). I'm obsessed. It's a little pricy, but I've always spent a bit on my concealer. I heard that Maybelline has come out with a really great serum concealer that I might try out.
It's so hard to want to branch out when you've found a product you're obsessed with.
Foundation - $44
I don't wear foundation most days, unless it's a date night or a special event. When I do wear foundation, I'm still using my Bite Beauty Changemaker Supercharged Micellar foundation. They have discontinued this foundation, so I will have to find a new foundation. If you have any recommendations, please let me know!
I wrote a whole post about this, but this foundation is medium coverage with a natural finish. It doesn't dry out my skin, and looks beautiful on the skin.
Powder - $18
This was another recommendation by Jamie Paige, the Kosas Cloud Set Baked Setting Smoothing Powder. I never realized I was using all the wrong powders for my face until I tried this one. This one smooths my skin, but somehow doesn't dry out my face?
I usually use this under my eyes, on my T-zone, and around my smile lines. It's almost like a real life filter! I can 100% notice the difference on days I use it verses days I don't.
Blush - $20
I'm obsessed with blush. It may be my most used product these days. That or concealer. I rotate around a few blushes all year round. At the moment I'm reading a lot for the Glossier Cloud Paints ($20) or the Honest Beauty Creme Cheek Lip ($19.99). They are both cream blushes that I find very easy to apply. I prefer to apply the Glossier Cloud Paint with a beauty sponge, while I tend to lean towards using the Honest Beauty Blush with a brush.
Bronzer - $58 & $32
I know, I know. Don't judge me! I didn't realize my bronzer was the most expensive part of my makeup routine until now. But hear me out, the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Bronzer powder is pure perfection. I was hesitant to try it out, because powders and dry skin tend to not mix well, but this one is another exception. My sister had one of these powders, and I was obsessed. It's super subtle, but so so beautiful on the skin. My skin looks smooth and perfected when I add this onto my cheeks.
As a cream bronzer, I really love the Saie Sun Melt Natural Cream Bronzer. This product is a product that just sinks into the skin. It looks so beautiful and natural, I'm obsessed (another Jamie Paige recommendation).
Highlight - $9
I've been using the same highlighter for years. You can go back years on my beauty posts, and you'll see me mention this product. The Colourpop Supershock highlighter. I'm not as into highlighter as I was, so I just keep buying the same one. I might switch it around once I'm done with the current one I'm using. I've heard great things about the Rare Beauty one, but I'm going to do some research.
Mascara - $28 & $12.99
I've been using two mascara's at a time at the moment. I bought the Maybelline Sensational Sky High mascara because people were raving about it, and while it did a good job lengthening my lashes, it didn't give it the volume I wanted. At the same time I had a deluxe sample of the Bite Beauty Upswing Full Volume Mascara. This is another product that's been discontinued, but I was obsessed with. I'm trying to go through what I currently have instead of buying new stuff, so I'm going through all of my deluxe samples at the moment!
If you have any recommendations for lengthening and volume mascaras, please send your recommendations my way.
Eyeliner - $25
I've been using this eyeliner for about 10 years now? I've gone to other brands, but I keep coming back to Urban Decay. It's the 24/7 Glide-On Eye Waterproof Eyeliner Pencil. I have it in about 4 colors, and just switch between them depending on the vibe I'm going for.
I'm not using liquid liner much anymore! I'm actually using a brush and dark eyeshadow. I feel like I have more control than using the pens.
Eyeshadow - $42
I switch through my eyeshadow palettes often, but if I were to go on a trip, and only bring one, I would bring the Dominique Cosmetics Latte Palette. It's easy to work with. Has a few pops of color. Has a dark brown for making wings, and the perfect shimmer and browns. I typically do natural eyes on a daily, so this is what I reach for the most. I have actually hit pan on two shades in this palette! I'll probably buy another one of them once I'm done with my current one.
Lips - $24
I have been reaching for the Merit Tinted Lip Oil a lot. It's light weight, comfortable on the lips, and hydrating! It's like a lip gloss, but without the sticky feeling. Highly recommend this product.
Setting Spray - $33
I'm almost done with my Mac Fix+ spray. It's a classic product that works really well! I haven't looked to see if there's anything better in the market at this moment, but once I'm done with this bottle I'll take a look and see. I like this product because it goes on sale often, aha.
Total: $407.98
Yikes. This is a lot higher than I thought it would be. I'm a little embarrassed! It doesn't feel that bad when you're usually restocking only one product at a time. Having all my products lined up like this is rough. And this isn't including everything else in my collection, just products I'm currently using! Well this is how much my face is worth, how expensive is your face? Let me know down below xxx
What foundation have you found to replace the BITE beauty? I am in the same boat and hoping to find a good replacement!
I'm sad to say that I have not found an alternative similar to that one! I will say I've been using less foundation nowadays, and have stuck to using concealer in my trouble spots. Now that I'm starting to get some fine lines, I feel like less is more? More-so with base products, especially with my dry skin. Currently, I've been really like the Ilia true serum concealer & as an affordable option I like the Nyx Bare With Me Concealer Serum! Hope this helps, and if you do find a dupe for the BITE one let me know!
