Melina's Book Club Pt. 6
I'm back again with another book post! I thought the holidays is the perfect time to put up another book club post. I've finally had the chance to catch up with my reading, and so I assumed most of you also have the time to do more reading!
The Naturals By Jennifer Lynn Barnes -★★★★★
So I actually read this book a few years ago, and loved it so much. There was a new addition to the series, but since the first few books in the series weren't fresh in my mind, I decided to reread the first two books! Lemme' tell you, from what I remembered Jennifer Lynn Barnes was an amazing writer. I was a little nervous to reread it, cause what if I don't love it as much?
Well, luckily for me, that's not what happened! I ended up loving it. The book is about these teenagers who, because of their upbringings, develop these "naturals" abilities. Because of their abilities, they end up working with the FBI helping them with cases. This series has a little bit of everything, a lil' bit of romance, some suspense, well developed characters, some action. I'm telling you, EVERYTHING!
It's such a well written YA Crime Fiction, that if you're a fan of anything crime, I promise you, that you'll love it!
Pushing Perfect by Michelle Falkoff -★★ 1/2
If you're new here, you might think how did you go from a five star review to a two and a half star review?! Well, I'm kind of a tough reviewer, and so when I say it's a two and half stars, it doesn't mean that I hate it. It just means that while it could have been an enjoyable read, it really didn't do anything to me.
So this book is about a girl Named Kara, and she tries her hardest to be perfect (hence the name). In middle school, she had everything she could of ever wanted. Then everything changed. She lost her two best friends, and she "turned into a monster". She was stressing about her SATs, and decided to take a new drug in order to help calm her down. Everything was going great until she gets a text message by a blackmailer.
If you want to find out what happens next you could read it, but to be honestly the book wasn't anything really special. It had the ingredients to make a great story, but I wasn't a huge fan. I felt like the ending was rushed, and while there were some characters you end up liking, most of the characters are either annoying or underdeveloped.
Killer Instinct (The Naturals #2) by Jennifer Lynn Barnes -★★★★★
I decided to end this book post on a high note, and talk about the second book The Naturals series. This book is written just as well as the first one. The story continues to follow our naturals while they try to figure out who this serial killer is. I don't want to say too much, because I don't want to give anything accidentally away, but I'm telling you once again, that you have to read this series!
If you haven't kept up with the other books I've reviewed, you can check them out below:
So let me know, what have you been reading? Let me know in the comments down below! Thank you so much for reading. I hope you have a wonderful day/night! Sending you love, strength, and positivity!

I'm intrigued by the naturals, especially since you gave it a five star rating! I'm normally not into crime-ish books but if there's special abilities involved I'm there for it. It's been added to my good reads list!
I love it, but if you're not into crime themed books, it might not be for you, because at the end of the day it is the main plot throughout the series? It's displayed in a way that's interesting because of the character's natural abilities, but still. Let me know if you do give it a try though! xx
Oh that's fair. I think I could probably get into it, sometimes I do read outside of my usual genres. I'll let you know if I do!
