What I've been reading Pt. 4
Hey guys! How are you going?! I'm so excited to say I'm back with another book post! I don't know why I take so much time to write one of these posts. I have read over 10 books since the last time I wrote "Books I've been Reading pt. 3".
Don't worry, I'm not going to talk about all those books today, but I am going to mention three of the latest books I've read and my thoughts on them. So let's get right into it!
If you've been keeping up with my Instagram stories (@heyyitsmelina), you would know that after reading every book, I post it on my story, and then add it to my highlight! So if you're a fast reader, and are looking for new books to read, definitely check it out on my Instagram Page.
This time around, I'm going to do this a little differently, and show you all the books I'm going to talk about here. You can click on the images below if you're only interested in learning about a specific book!
The Forbidden Wish by Jessica Khoury - ★★★
This book was a twist on Aladdin. It's about this boy who finds a lamp in a cave. From the lamp a Jinni comes out, and she promises to grant him three wishes. You follow the two of them as their story unravels. It has action, adventure, romance, and more than a few plot twists. Sometimes the author puts a lot of description, but in a way where I'm not the hugest fan of. I really like description of action more than description of surroundings, but that's just my preference. I think it was still an amazing story, and recommend others to read it! If you want to get your hands on a copy, you can US: here or UK: here!
PS: The only reason I read this book was because of Marie from Drizzle and Hurricane books. If you're a book reader, and you want to read book reviews often, definitely check her out, because I get most of my "books to read" from her!
Be More Chill by Ned Vizzini - ★★★
I'm not usually a fan of sci-fi novels, but this one is actually really good! It's about this boy who learns about this super computer that you swallow, and it helps you become whatever you want to be. You want to learn how to gamble? It'll teach you how to count cards. You want to learn how to talk to girls? It'll teach you how to do that too! Jeremy wants to learn how to be popular. You follow along his journey on becoming the most popular kid in school. It's really good, and a quick read. Definitely recommend! You can get the book US: here or UK: here!
Allegedly by Tiffany D. Jackson - ★★★★
This book was written so beautifully. You are brought into a world where Mary was arrested for killing a white baby at the age of 9. She didn't say much during the first interrogation with detectives. Actually, she didn't say anything throughout the trial either. Her mother ends up giving her up to the state, and they send her to Juvie.
We find Mary at the age of 17 in a group home, where she has served 8 years in jail for a crime she committed, or did she? She never spoke out about the crime, and never had a reason to do so, until she met Ted, and had to care for her unborn baby.
This book has twists, turns, and draws you in. While I don't know how I felt about the ending, I still think this book was really good, and think all of you should read it! You can buy the book US: here or UK: here!
I think I'm going to leave it at 3 books this time around, but I promise I'll write one of these segments more often! What books have you been reading and loving recently? Let me know in the comments below! As always, thank you for reading. I hope you have a wonderful day/night. Sending you love, strength, and positivity!
