Winter Break Trip to Orlando, Florida Pt 1

So last winter me, my sister, and my best friend, Melissa, all decided to drive to Orlando Florida. My sister is in high school, so the week after Christmas is the only time for us to go, unless we wanted to wait until the following summer. Anyways we decided we were going to take off Christmas night. Now, there were two reasons for this, one, because of the fact that we would beat out all of the traffic, and secondly, so we could be in Florida as soon as possible.

Now, for those of you who don't know, I live in New Jersey, which is about 15 hours away from Florida if you're driving. We took off around 6:30 PM and drove straight through. I started off driving the first 8 hours. At this point it was around 2:30 AM, and I was exhausted and Melissa took over while I slept for 4 hours. At around 6:30 I took over again, because Melissa had been up the entire night! It took us another 3 hours for us to get there.

We were staying at a close family friend's house for the week, so we literally got to her house, said 'hi' to everyone, and knocked out for about 5 hours. That night we went to the liquor store, and on the way back to the car, I had broken my phone! Less than 24 hours, and I had broken my phone.

That night, Melissa went with me to the Mall to talk to someone in Apple to see if they could fix my phone. Since it was the day after Christmas the store was filled, and they told me that I would have to come the next morning. When me and Melissa had gotten back to my family friend's house, we opened up a bottle of wine, turned up the music and had an amazing time. By the end of the night we had finished 2 bottles of wine between ourselves and have been feeling pretty good.

The following morning, Melissa ended up hung over, so my sister, being the great person she was went with me to the Apple store to get my phone fixed. I ended up having to replace my phone, but at the point in time it didn't matter to me, I was just genuinely so happy to have my phone back (yeah, I know it was less than 24 hours, but it was torture not having it). We spent some time at the mall, went to Starbucks, and went back to my friend's house.

We got there only to find out that Melissa was still in bed. She was literally in bed until 5:30 that night. After she was finally ready, we went to Downtown Disney, which is now known as Disney Springs. We went to eat at the House of Blues, which had amazing Cajun food. Then we went to the Disney store, and bought so many things, including my Minnie mouse ears.

That night we got back to my friend's house and had another night of drinking and gossiping. The following morning me and Melissa bought our tickets to go to Magic Kingdom. We had some breakfast, did our hair and makeup and ended up going around 12:00 PM. After waiting in the parking line for about half and hour, they tell us that Magic Kingdom was full, and that we would have to spend the day in either Epcot or Animal Kingdom. They gave us a parking and lunch voucher and so we left. After some deliberation, we both decided to go to Epcot.

When we were finally on line to get into Epcot one of the workers actually told us that we would be able to go to Magic Kingdom later in the day if you take the train. We were literally so happy, we were getting two parks for the price of one, plus we didn't have to pay for parking, plus they were paying for our lunch.

Now for those of you who have been to Epcot, you know the park layout goes full circle, and you can either go through the park left to right or vise versa. Epcot is a theme park that represents multiple countries. We decided to start on the left. The left starts with Norway, where they have some Nordic themed buildings, and they were building some Frozen building/ride. Then there was China, where they had a dragon dance.

Germany was amazing, The stores they had, the food, the buildings, the outfits, everything. I was in love with the attention they put to detail. Of course they put a lot of emphasis on beer, coo-coo clocks, pretzels, and sausages. After Germany, was Italy. Italy was probably one of my favorites. The buildings looked beautiful, they sold lots of wine.

We then went to Japan, which took forever to get through, cause we would literally stop to touch and look at everything. We probably would of bought everything if we had the money to do so. Everything was so amazing. Next to Japan was Morocco. This was probably tied with Italy as my favorite. Then we went to France, where we had some of the most amazing Ice cream. The Last two countries were United Kingdom and Canada. United Kingdom, had really cute shops, and a mini tribute to Dr. Who and The Beatles. We mainly skipped over Canada, so I really can't tell you much.

Finally, we decided to leave and head over to Magic Kingdom. Now Magic Kingdom is always amazing, but Magic Kingdom during Christmas season was truly magical. While we were there we went on the new rides that were added, such as the Little Mermaid ride, but we also spend time on some of our old favorite rides, such as It's a Small World and the Pirates of the Caribbean. We also saw the Christmas themed fireworks and the Electric Parade. Overall such an amazing day!

It sounds like you had a great time, so far apart from the few little hiccups along the way! I can't wait to read part two, I've always wanted to go to Disney World, I visited Disney Land in Paris a few years ago for my 18th birthday and it was amazing. I can only imagine how good Florida is! I think it would be my ultimate holiday.

I can't even imagine how it must have felt to drive for so long! I passed my drivers test in August last year and I hate driving anything longer than a couple hours so kudo's to you for making it 8 hours through the night!!

The driving wasn't an issue for me, because I honestly love driving! Blasting some disney tunes along the way, time honestly flew 🙂
